Technical Writer & Configuration Data Management Specialist
Location: Ogden, UT | Full-Time | Competitive Pay: $46.90 - $57.03 per hour

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Technical Writer & Configuration Data Management Specialist to support operations at the Little Mountain Test Facility (LMTF) at Hill Air Force Base, UT. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate documentation, managing configuration data, and supporting the development of technical manuals and operational materials.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and manage a variety of technical documents, including Standard Operating Procedures, Maintenance Manuals, test reports, and business correspondence.

• Oversee configuration management and document control for all LMTF technical documentation.

• Participate in design reviews, functional audits, and technical interchange meetings to ensure accurate documentation updates.

• Serve as the configuration management lead, ensuring compliance with U.S. Air Force requirements.

• Work closely with engineers, lab personnel, and Air Force representatives to develop and maintain accurate system documentation.

• Proofread and edit documents for clarity, grammar, and compliance with industry standards.

• Act as the site point-of-contact for contract deliverables, managing submittals and ensuring timely updates.

• Support programs by recording meeting minutes, compiling action items, and preparing data documentation.

What You Bring

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of five years of experience writing technical manuals, reports, and procedural documents.

• Strong knowledge of configuration and data management tools and documentation best practices.

• Experience working with U.S. Air Force or Department of Defense (DoD) documents, procedures, and standards.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, with the ability to identify and correct formatting errors.

• Excellent analytical skills to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation.

• Ability to interpret technical instructions, diagrams, and process workflows effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a laboratory or industrial setting with exposure to technical processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field.

• Seven or more years of experience in technical writing and configuration management.
